Our Story

In Loving Memory of Joe Rendon

First we would like to extend our appreciation to the parents, athletes and the rest of the softball community for showing interest in our team. We have given a summary of some of the accomplishments in our Meet the Coaches section. In this section, we are sharing our "why".

We would like to dedicate this team to our loving father, Joe Rendon whom gained his heavenly wings last year on June 11th, 2021. He played baseball and graduated from Midland High. He coached Alex and the Rangers at Eastern Little League. He played competitive slow-pitch for Latino Lightning and soon made his way over to MUGS as Stephanie began playing softball at the age of 8. His passion for softball quickly developed and after a few years of assisting Stephanie's travel teams, he decided to start his own. He started with West Texas Tornados and soon to Showtime. He was proud and loved the name, as well as the team. His favorite animal has been an eagle, as he collected them for many years. We decided on the symbol of the eagle above the name, as he flies with us on this new journey.

At the time of his passing, many people, especially softball players, shared their stories with us. He has touched so many lives not only through coaching softball but throughout his life here on earth. He inspired people to become leaders, a friend, and positive role model. He instilled a numerous amount of values including respect, competitiveness, passion, self- belief and work ethic. He has challenged us in many ways, one being athletics that we have grown to be grateful for. He loved his grandchildren so much. He was able to watch Payzlee, Alex's oldest, start t-ball and started coaching her. He was definitely called out for becoming a "softy" a few times as we watched him coach her. He was the most supportive "Tata" to her and he is one of the reasons we are starting this journey today.

"Softball is my passion; coaching and teaching is my purpose. I feel it in my heart that this is what I am meant to do. I want to pass on as much knowledge as I can to young girls as my father did for us." - Stephanie
